Module 5 has three units which deal
with the relationship between meditation and values. Meditation is
introspective. Its practice enables you to look within and make contact
with your inner truth. Your conscience is awakened and refined which
brings you into contact with your instrinsic positive qualities. You
discover your natural sense of morality and justice which makes it
easy for you to follow the dictates of your conscience. Positive thinking
and emotional maturity are natural outcomes of the regular and deep
practice of meditation.
Unit 1 is entitled How to Meditate.
The unit explains the value of purposeful and introspective thought
as a tool for the development of values and character. Meditation
strengthens the inner self and establishes a link with the Divine
source of values. Several traditional forms of meditation are outlined
and Raja Yoga meditation is explained in detail so that you can apply
the process step by step. During your study sessions there will be
opportunities to practise meditation in a group setting. You can develop
your meditation further during your spiritual retreat (Module 11).
Unit 2 is entitled Positive Thinking.
This unit explains how positive thought is rooted in self-respect
and honesty. It describes the principles of positive thinking and
how to generate streams of positive thoughts. It explains how to use
self-respect to resist negative thoughts which arise from false pride,
mental stress and psychological shock. The process of thought is connected
to the process of choice.
